Pre-Freeze

It’s 46 degrees outside and I’m not ready to wear pants.  This is troubling on many levels but mostly I just hate pants.  Hate ‘em.

If you know me in real life, you know that you will never see me in anything other than a skirt until there’s snow on the ground.  I hate shorts.  I hate capris.  I hate pants.  I like my legs to touch – and God knows they do.  I like the breeze - I admit it.  I just like the comfort of a skirt and shirt.

It’s supposed to snow tomorrow.  And while all you other Utah bloggers are snuggled tightly in your beds, I will be out walking neighborhoods for candidates who want to fight for bloggers like us.  I will be freezing my butt off IN PANTS while you sip coffee and watch the early morning news on CNN.  If you look closely at the sattelite pictures, you might just see me during the “OMG, I can’t believe it’s already snowing in SLC” segment.  You feel bad, right?  Even if you don’t, I love you.

It’s funny now that summer’s over…I look around and think of all the things I meant to do while it was still warm enough.  But the problem with global warming is that just as soon as it gets warm enough, it’s 110 degrees and then it’s too hot.  We have about 8 days of spring and 8 days of fall.  And who can get anything done in 8 days?  B tells me that it’s 90 degrees in Houston…gaaahd.  I could get some stuff done in 90 degree weather.  I could plant some bulbs and stain the fence.  I could clean off the front porch and walk my dog.  But for now, I’m down for the count.  The temp dropped below 50 and it’s going to freeze tonight.  No more garden tomatoes from my dear friend Ruthie.  No more giant zucchini from my neighbor.  From now on it’s canned veggies and flannel jams.

Welcome to winter in Salt Lake City.

  1. I’ve been air conditioned during the day and heating it at night for a week now.

Funny, I don’t remember you wearing a skirt camping ;)

  2. Get thee to CA!!!

  3. Crazy! It’s in the 60’s and 70’s here in Atlanta. It’s actually quite perfect, i just wish we could keep this weather year round! I hope you’re not too cold tomorrow…

  4. Ahh, poor Keri. : ) If it makes you feel better, that 90 degree weather didn’t feel so wonderful today when I was on my roof trimming trees. I’ll be wearing shorts next week and thinking of you guys. : )

  5. I was laughing at the no pants, no shorts, no capris thing. Maybe you’re meant to be living in a much warmer climate so you can wear bikinis everyday!

I can’t believe it’s getting so cold there already. We’re usually turning the heat on about now, but it’s been in the 70s for the 4th day in a row! I can’t believe it. All of the animals are confused around here.

I really hope we can take another visit out there this winter. With the family. I promise to keep in touch.

  6. speaking of tomatoes…I’ll have to run the last of them to the office tomorrow. Didn’t make it out in the COLD on Friday.

  7. You make me laugh. :-)

  8. Where the global warming at?

  9. I am ready for fall here… the 89 degree days are getting old!!! :)
